BT21: Meet the characters created by BTS

Surely many of you from the Army have not seen somewhere those drawings called BT21 that are causing a real stir among the BTS fandom .

They have been on the market for more than four years and have revolutionized everything, but now they announce that the BT21 universe has only just begun. BT21 Universe, a new collection of these incredible characters, is comes out in April 2019.

So today we bring you all the details about these new friend BT21.

BT21

BT21 is the result of a collaboration between the famous Line Friends brand and BTS. On September 25, 2017, a new account called “BT21” appeared on Twitter that aroused curiosity in the fandom, as well as endless theories. A simple tweet with the drawing of a rabbit asking “Whose drawing is it?”. After this, another 6 identical tweets, but with different images, were appearing that same day.

Days later the mystery was turned out: those funny drawings were part of the new collection of Line emoticons that had been created by BTS in a collaboration. Line friends now had 8 new characters!

That aroused (even more) the curiosity of ARMY who was impatient to know who had drawn what, since it was the great mystery that had not yet been resolved.

And that mystery was not deciphered until the YouTube channel, BT21, opened. Their first release, a trailer, was the preview of a 13-episode series in which they show the entire process of creating the new characters of LINE Friends.

In these videos we can find all kinds of information about BT21 and its 7 members. As for example where BT21 comes from (it is the fusion between BTS and Siglo 21) or the tastes and hobbies of each one, characteristics that fill them with life: Mang is a dancer, Cooky is invincible when she gets angry, Koya loves to sleep … We can also see which was the drawing that underwent the least changes throughout the process (TATA) or the one that most (Mang or Shooky), who were more determined in terms of appearance (TATA) or name (Jin and RJ, or Jungkook and Cooky)

But what is BT21? As BTS explains throughout the videos, BT21 is a group of friends, and, in addition, a group of idol trainees that is formed by: TATA, Chimmy, Cooky, Shooky, RJ, Koya and Mang.

The story of this unique group begins when TATA, from the BT country, wants to know the world since it is a rather curious being. To do this, he rides his robot, VAN, which accidentally takes him to planet Earth. Once here, he discovers by chance a billboard with a video of a group of idols (BTS) and decides that he also wants to be equally famous and recognized, he wants to become a “universtar”. Thus, he embarks on a journey to recruit different characters for his group of idols, which is renamed BT21.

We must highlight, the figure of VAN. It was the last BT21 mystery to come to light. Each member of BT21 represented one of the members of BTS, so it would be normal that there were only 7 new components for LINE friends, so when 8 of them appeared the guesswork began. It was not until a few weeks ago that RM, during a live, talked about VAN. This component of BT21 was created by himself, his mission is to be the protector of BT21 and therefore, represents ARMY.

But this does not stop there. At the end of the last chapter of Making of BT21 we could see a small sample of all the merchandising that LINE had prepared for all of us. From sweatshirts to wallets, through hats, shoes, laptop cases and even pajamas.

For their reaction, the guys at BTS loved everything the brand had prepared for them, but not just them. ARMY also proved to be very, very happy with all that. This is how the BT21 fever began, a concept that is perfectly explained in the following video:

BT21 Stores

As it could not be otherwise, LINE stores in both New York and Seoul were filled with fans eager to get hold of these products, so the store even had to put restrictions on these purchases, thus making the same buyer could only take a single product of each type.

This same restriction was imposed for online stores, both global and Korean, which opened their doors to the public many weeks later, due to the stock limit. But this was not enough to stop all the fans, who managed, in a few minutes, to exhaust all the stock that was available for the global online store. So, we are sorry to tell you, today these products can only be obtained in physical LINE stores. If you are not lucky enough to be able to access one of them, you will have to wait for the future stock of the products, which is not yet announced.

In the occasion of BTS’s concerts in Europe in June 2019, BTS’s POP UP STORES arrived. One dedicated to the BT21 universe at the Candem Market in the British capital, the first stop of the European tour LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF.

BT21 has conquered the entire market, the BT21 phenomenon has been incredible. The guys from BTS have not only triumphed in music, but everything they touch becomes gold and more if we talk about some characters, created by themselves, that the public has liked so much.

BT21 has conquered everyone, they are incredible characters that transmit a lot to us. But, after more than a year without news it is discovered that BTS is working with LINE on a new project. BT21 UNIVERSE, is a new collection of these amazing characters and will be released in April 2019.
